Official Opening of No.1 BHIC Celebrated During Life Sciences Week

Last week we came together with the University of Birmingham and Bruntwood SciTech to celebrate the official opening of No.1 BHIC, the first phase of Birmingham Health Innovation Campus and our new home.

We were delighted to have Selly Oak MP and Minister for Veterans Al Carns as our compere and host for the evening, and honoured to be joined by Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, and Gail Marzetti, Deputy CEO of NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), who took part in our engaging panel discussion with Bruntwood's Kath Mackay and PHTA's own Gino Martini.

As the focal point of Birmingham's health and life sciences district, BHIC will become a global centre for research in healthcare - catalysing unique opportunities for collaboration between industry, Universities and the NHS.

PHTA: open for business

PHTA welcomes Clinical Immunology Services

Over the last few weeks, our expert team have handled the complex logistics of moving in our anchor tenants - the University of Birmingham's Clinical Immunology Services (CIS).

Led by Professor Alex Richter, CIS provides a comprehensive range of accredited lab services to facilitate diagnosis, and is the only service of its kind to be embedded within an academic environment.

Within PHTA, CIS will be collaborating with leading corporate partners to develop high-quality, reliable immunology diagnostics and services that set new standards in healthcare, driving global improvements in care

Health Innovation West Midlands makes PHTA its new home

A very warm welcome to Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM), who are now based on our third floor alongside the core PHTA team and CIS.

Tim Jones, Chief Officer at HIWM said: “Being based at PHTA places us at the heart of a thriving life sciences ecosystem. It’s a natural fit for our mission to accelerate innovation in health and care, and we’re excited about the opportunities this move creates for deeper collaboration with entrepreneurs, researchers and clinicians across the region.
