Today we welcomed Selly Oak MP Steve McCabe (pictured centre) to the Birmingham Health Innovation Campus development alongside our partners Bruntwood SciTech, who provided a wonderful progress report on the build. Steve learnt about the impact BHIC and PHTA will have on the local area – creating 10,000 new jobs and adding £480m GVA to the economy once complete – and also heard about our commitment to supporting our local community.
To mark the occasion, we were also joined by Timothy Pereira of Selly Oak charity The Life House (2nd right), to accept PHTA’s donation of £5,000 which will help their vital community projects including a food bank, vocational and educational experience, and crisis support.
Our donation is the first step in our commitment to help reduce health inequalities on our doorstep and beyond, through a long-term collaboration with The Life House and also by providing the education and training needed to support local people into the thousands of high-value jobs BHIC and PHTA will create.
