Atun Kimya establishes first UK laboratory base at PHTA

Turkish chemical manufacturer Atun Kimya has taken laboratory space at Birmingham’s Precision Health Technologies Accelerator (PHTA), as it launches its UK operations under Atun Kimya UK.

Founded in 2017, Atun Kimya develops and manufactures process chemicals for the hot-dip galvanising industry, combining chemical manufacturing with consultancy, technical monitoring and specialist metal and chemical analysis services.

Its new Birmingham base will complement its environmentally-friendly manufacturing facility located in Kartepe, Kocaeli, Türkiye – using PHTA’s Category 2 laboratory infrastructure to undertake controlled testing and analytical activities as the company begins to establish and expand its UK presence.

Sharjeel Kayani, Laboratory Specialist at PHTA, said: “Atun Kimya has grown rapidly since it was established, and came to us looking for high-quality, professionally-managed laboratory infrastructure and specialist technical support for its UK base.

“PHTA’s flexible lab environment provides access to high-quality scientific infrastructure and multidisciplinary expertise, without the cost and complexity of establishing a facility from scratch. We look forward to supporting Atun Kimya as it develops its UK operations.”

Chris Barlow, Managing Director at Atun Kimya UK, said: “Opening our first UK base is an important milestone for Atun Kimya and a significant step in the company’s continued international growth.

“PHTA provides the facilities, equipment and support we need to carry out testing and analysis while building our presence in the UK market.

“Our business has always been guided by continuous research and development, sustainable products and close technical collaboration with our customers. We are excited to bring that approach to the UK and to develop new relationships with customers and partners here.”
